Floods Inundate 500 Houses in Saptari, Nepal
Saptari 27 September. Floods resulting from incessant rain have submerged 500 houses in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality and Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality in Saptari, affecting over 2,000 families.
Approximately 2,000 people have been affected after floodwaters entered settlements in Wards 5, 7, 12, and 13 of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality (submerging 483 houses) and Wards 4 and 5 of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality (submerging 17 houses). Birendra Majhi, the Mayor of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality, stated that water entered the settlements after the water level in the Saptakoshi River rose on Friday night.
He said, "While arrangements have been made to provide two meals a day—morning and evening—for those affected by the floods, further relief materials will be distributed once the water recedes and the victims are properly identified."
